Last Friday night I had the opportunity to experience some of downtown Napa. My evening started off with a birthday celebration for Scott Lyall at Scott Lyall Clothes For Men. His place, located in the New Riverfront property, (next door to Morimoto Restaurant) has the best selection of upscale clothing for men, and Scott is the perfect salesman! His mother, who owns Helen Lyall: Clothes for women (located next door to Scott) hired a Marilyn Monroe look-alike to sing him “Happy Birthday”. Scott provided us some delicious bbq shrimp, chicken and steak skewers from Bounty Hunter. They were prepared right out front on the grill and were accompanied by a few of their tasty wines of course. What a great time, Thanks Scott!
Scott carries those outstanding shirts from the Robert Graham line of clothing and I was lucky enough to find another colorful shirt to add to my wardrobe. In fact, after purchasing it, I decide to wear it as I wondered around town. My plan was to visit Angele, but I was sidetracked by the music coming from Silo’s. They were featuring live entertainment that sounded amazing and was sold out. I ended up at the bar at Celadon for a dessert. After reading the menu, I had to try the calamari appetizer first. It was served with a spicy chipotle glaze and pickled ginger. This was the best calamari I’ve ever eaten! The bartender, Sean, recommended a dessert special with cherries, dark chocolate and vanilla bean gelato. It was a perfect choice! Thanks Sean for making our evening so memorable.
Walking back to my car, I was pleasantly surprised with the number of people still wondering around the once quiet and unvisited Downtown Napa. It is so nice to see the town of Napa alive again with people enjoying everything the downtown has to offer.
